I miss Portland

so much! I am homesick. I miss bike-riding, warmer weather, good friends and good coffee. Oh, and cheaper rent!

Long-time no writey because I broke my camera so I have no new interesting pictures to share. Also, I'm working on production which is the non-fun part of the creative process. It's a drastic and overwhelming change from doing everything myself and making one of a kinds to doing multiples, perfecting patterns and finding the right sewing contractors, etc. It's a bit of a headache figuring all these things out. I miss the one of a kind dress days!

I'm looking forward to a vacation in the Spring!

Oh, Leanne, Portland misses you!

Although warm, I'm not sure we're up on that. 26 degrees when I walked to the bus this morning. Although it's about 49 now. And believe it or not, that big yellow ball in the sky is visible!

Regardless of where you design and produce it, I'm looking forward to seeing your new line. And I'll drink a cup of Stumptown in your name. (I'd send you some but by the time it arrived it'd be a bit stale...)

Get a camera! Somehow, I mean, you need to take pictures. Even if not for us, your loyal blog readers...

Chin up! I completely sympathize; I grew up in Eugene and after 11 years on the East Coast I still resent the protracted winters out here. I have to say, the longer I'm away the more I appreciate the weather in Oregon--those dry summers! But just you wait, spring in NYC is like the entire world spontaneously having a party.

Yes, Portland does miss you! It has been pretty damned cold here tho, despite the deceivingly sunny sky; but it's still bikeable weather and the Springwater trail is hopping.

Nothing justifies a trip to PDX then a swing by Mill End. :)

Have a nice weekend. Nice to see you posting. Watching for more excellent work!

we're just a few weeks from spring here in NYC leanne! don't worry, it'll be worth the wait.
Also you have to find all the great indie coffee shops around the city - i personally adore communitea in queens.

oh leanne! I just read your entry about FIDM buying your whole collection. I didn't even know they did that but you should know that the school is a media whore anyway. They showed your stuff at debut in LA I was wondering why you weren't there. I suppose i know why now.

Hi Leanne,

This is Mariana from Hong Kong. I knew you and am shocked by your poetic, romantic and wearable designs through 'Project Runway'. I do wish I could collect at least one of your art pieces in the future. Keep on!

I was just sitting by the Hawthorne bridge looking over the waves and watching the ducks and remembering how you said those waves and waters inspired your PR collection. I happened to sit there during a break in the wind and things seemed amazingly quiet, even though when I looked at the bridge I could see traffic flying in both directions. Still, it was so relaxing and quiet that I swear I could hear the waves speaking... and they were saying, "Hey Leanne... We miss you too..." I used to sit by the water in DUMBO on my lunch break and listen to those waves too. Portland misses you and will always be here when you need it. Keep on rocking in NYC while you are there and know that the force is with you! All the best to you...! Love the February pics of your newest creations!

Hi Leanne,

I love your designs and wish to own a piece of your cute dress. What a pity I dont have a chance to buy them in Hong Kong and all the items on Etsy were sold out

Really love your Evelynne Dress, Adeline Dress, Maya Dress, Claire tunic and Cesare Vest...just love them so much but I dont have a chance to own them and put them on, otherwise I will buy them all!

Hi Leanne! I know exactly what you feel. I'm from Peru and I moved to Los Angeles two years ago to study Fashion Design and I'm still homesick. The first months are always the hardest, but after that you get use to it. Wish you all the best. I'm a fan of your designs, they're just amazing! :)
Hugs!

I just moved to NY from Portland too, and I can't even explain how much I miss it. NY has so much to do, but I still can't walk across the Hawthorne Bridge in the morning, sad.
Also-Your new work looks amazing.
Way to go!
