spring 2010

Oh, wow. I apologize for my very long absence! I've been working solid non-stop on my Spring 2010 collection, which I'm showing during fashion week very very soon.

I did take a break to watch the marathon of new Project Runway shows last night. I won't go into too much detail, but I was shocked and appalled that Korto did not win. It's unbelievable. Her clothes were not only the most beautiful and well-made, but her restaurant challenge dress was so amazing and, I thought, surely sealed the deal for her win. I got pretty disheartened after that. Yet again, I realized that it's all for shock and surprise and you can never tell what the judges/producers will do. It makes me sick. These new shows seem especially unpredictable so far. I guess that makes for interesting TV, but sadly it is at the expense of injustice to the designers.

I'm not sure if I'll be watching too regularly. At least not until fashion week is over with, and I can take a breather from my Spring 2010-mania.

I'm doing my own runway show, and have aimed for a high goal of creating 25 looks. I'm currently working on #16 and #17 today, and am so happy I didn't procrastinate this time. Well, not as much. I could've started sooner, but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I'm getting better about it.

Here is a very quick sneak peek. Some of them may be in the collection and some may not. ;)

I thought Korto will win too but I guess it was Daniel's black dress that got him thumbs up.

I was a bit surprised over it too...I don't know how I like the new season so far.

Happy to find your blog, just want to let you know that the whole Fibers department of UArts in Philly was rooting for you--we're more sculptors than fashion or textiles, and love the sculptural aspects of your work~!

I just recently discovered your blog, thanks for the sneak peek. The colors are gorgeous! I just want to wrap myself up in that lovely fabric. Look forward to seeing more!

I was too very surprised by last night's PR winner. Sweetpea was my favorite. I loved her sort of.. sweet and silly Alice in wonderland's garden collection.

I love the colors, the drape and the softness of these images! I can't wait to see the collection! It looks so ethereal and serene...almost something out of a dream.

Leanne, I am a huge fan of your designs (I have been since I saw them on Project Runway) and would love to wear them. I love the way you drape and shape sustainable fabrics and prove to everybody that earth-friendly clothes do not have to be earthy-crunchy looking. I look forward to graduating from school next May and therefore to be able to afford your clothes!! :)

I saw the episode online last night and I must say, that out of the 4 who had the highest scores, I thought Korto's designs were the best. I'm not sure I understood Daniel's vision...

Overall, I thought Korto, Uli, Sweet P and Chris were the best. I didn't understand the why the judges put Uli in the bottom half. In her season they were always after her for always using vibrant prints and making simpler shapes and now that her colour palette changed to muted solids and her silhouette evolved to a more sophisticated level they weren't satisfied because she had changed too much...for the positive, I thought.

I also thought that the judges' critique of Korto's deep pink dress (the red carpet dress...the one that came out first) as being not as good as her restaurant dress was wrong. I thought her restaurant dress was phenomenal but her red carpet dress was definitely something I'd be proud to wear also.

I think Nina and Heidi are the two spastics out of the three judges; Michael sometimes has viewpoints I don't agree with, but for the most part I see his point and his reasoning is always consistent, unlike the other two.

Korto has a terrible attitude, though. Like the world owes her something for losing against you. During the All-Star Challenge (after having "Déjà vu" from being in the final two again) she told Daniel he is much cuter to look at than you. Yeesh!

Leanne and her light and calm colours... So beautiful. Can't wait to see!!!! :D

Can't wait to see what you come up with. Completely agree with June above. The attitude can make or break you! I think Kenley proved that to us last year... =) Best wishes!

I volunteered at your show last night and I thought it was beyond amazing! I absolutely love your designs and you execute them expertly. Loved the color palette, as well. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to me as a fashion design student. Let me know if you need an intern!
